As you are no doubt aware, Les Wexner sat for a deposition before Congress a few months ago. He steadfastly maintained that he had never seen or been introduced to any girls, let alone interacted in any way with them. But he *did* provide a fascinating view from the perspective of one of Epstein's clients, talking about how Epstein would sometimes call him as often as three times within an hour, and then they wouldn't speak for months.
And he characterized their relationship as always business, not 'friends', saying that "I don't think I ever went to lunch or dinner or a movie or had a cup of coffee with Jeffrey. And I thought about that recently. I'd say the same thing about my attorney. I'd never been to his office, my current attorney, who's been our family attorney for 30 years."
To the question of whether he had ever spent time with Epstein and Trump together, at the same time, he says this:
"Yes. I want to answer this question accurately. I would go to some of the Victoria's Secret fashion shows. It was very important to the brand. At some of the fashion shows, Jeffrey was there, and some, Trump was there. And I remember, because Trump would always introduce himself to me, and I always thought it was kind of odd that he was at the fashion show, because he had nothing to do with fashion."
And to the question "Did Jeffrey Epstein ever discuss Donald Trump with you?" Wexner answers "He would name drop it. So he would say things like, I know President Clinton, or I know the pope, or I know God, or I know you."
He acknowledges being on the island, and actually his description of the island is... interesting. He says that basically it was dumpy, all rocks, he had no idea why someone would buy it!
Of course this is a 4-hour plus deposition (which is why I paid for the transcript), but it is specifically one point in the deposition to which I want to turn your attention, as it is a perfect illustration of how something can be taken out of context, massaged with AI (or even just plain old editing) to turn it into misinformation clickbait, and then explode on the Internet.
There is an anonymous account on Twitter / X. You know what I say about anonymous accounts - it means you have *no* idea who is behind it, there is nobody taking accountability for what is posted, and they can post just anything. This particular account, "ExposingEvil704", has 32,000 followers.
A few days ago ExposingEvil704 posted a video montage of moments from Wexner's deposition with the caption, and I quote:
"Les Wexner confirms that Jeffery Epstein worked for the Rothschild Family in France. His lawyer then leaned in and said: “I will f*cking kiII you if you answer another question with more than 5 words.” "
This post of ExposingEvil704's has been shared *over 2000* times on X alone.
AND IT IS COMPLETE AND UTTER BS!!
Here is what *really* happened, and if you go to the video, starting at timestamp 4:25:00, you will see it for yourself.
Wexner is answering a question, and he is rambling, taking nearly *two full minutes* to answer a simple question. Watch his attorney's face; you will clearly see that someone on the panel has caught his eye, communicating "this guy is rambling and taking up precious time", and his attorney rolls his eyes and nods - it is *very* clear that this is a response to Wexner's rambling.
Remember that the rule in a deposition, for the person being deposed, is to give simple 'yes' or 'no' answers, and if it's not a yes or no question, then to give a short, concise answer that responds *only* to the actual question.
But here is Wexner, rambling on and on (again, taking nearly two full minutes to respond to a single question).
So when Wexner stops speaking, his attorney leans in and says, in a lighthearted tone, "I will fucking kill you if you answer another question in more than five words."
And Wexner laughts and nods.
This is Wexner's attorney reining in his client's propensity to ramble. It's the kind of thing that lawyers who are representing clients in depositions deal with every single day. It's the kind of thing that *I* might say. It was said in jest, but with a serious message: stop rambling, stop giving them more than they asked for.
I can only assume that the anonymous account on X knows all of this, as they would have had to watch the full video, for the full context, and they chose to ignore it in favour of chasing clicks and shares.
Anonymous accounts suck.
