Trump's Newest Election Interfering Tactic: New Letter Threatens All 50 States with Criminal Charges

If at a first you don't succeed with bullying your way into election interference, and getting voter rolls, bully, bully, and bully again.

First it was the SAVE Act, which he can't get passed *even though his own party is in control of Congress*. Then it was his mail-in voting executive order, which *his own Supreme Court* roundly trounced. Then it was the Courts knocking down his effort to have the USPS pass a rule requiring the states to upload their mail-in ballot voter rolls.

And while most people recognize that after three strikes you're out, not this bully.

So yesterday his DOJ sent a letter to *all 50 states* threatening their officials with criminal prosecution, including criminal conspiracy, if they didn't strictly follow federal election laws (as if they weren't already) and - and this is the icing on the over-the-top DOJ cake - demanding a *written response* within 5 days explaining what the state is doing to ensure compliance with the litany of federal laws listed in the letter and that make it a crime to, among other things, have non-citizens on the voting rolls.

Specifically the letter closed: "The Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, would like to assist your state in complying with these federal laws. Please respond to this letter within five days informing us how the state intends to ensure it is complying with these federal laws both at the state and local level and how the Department can assist in those efforts. Please send your written response within five (5) days to William F. Mohrman, Senior Counsel, at [email address redacted by me]@usdoj.gov."

This is, of course, just another way of Trump trying to get at the voter rolls, this time I'm sure by attempting to file criminal charges against any state that displeases him and that doesn't respond to his liking within 5 days. After all, if they don't respond within 5 days I'm sure that his deluded DOJ will *think* that would be an adequate pretext for going to a court or grand jury saying "they didn't respond fully, that must mean that they have non-citizens on their voter rolls and now we need discovery."

Of course, it won't work, and in fact I'm sure there are lawsuits being prepared by the states right now.

What a bully.

What a maroon.
